Holiday House Devon

Longbridge House offers a beautiful quiet country location nestled at the foot of the Yarty Valley, with grounds that border the Yarty River, a wildlife haven, with Trout and Kingfishers a regular sight, the grounds are bordered by farm land, so you will often have the cows and sheep watching your every move.

The House is an ideal Holiday Cottage with spacious and cosy accommodation. Seven en suite bedrooms, Large dining room, Morning Room, Drawing Room, and the very cosy Snug. The farmhouse Kitchen provides the modern equipment that is needed, twin fridges, freezer, dishwasher, double electric oven, and the must have 4 oven Aga.

East Devon Cottages have the ideal location to explore the South West, perfecly situated with the Jurrasic Coast just a few minutes away, and the great coastal towns and villages of Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Beer and Sidmouth & Otterton all a short drive away.

The Local Area

Longbridge House is situated in the beautiful Yarty Valley, nestled between the villages of Stockland, Membury and Yarcombe. The coastal towns of Lyme Regis, Seaton, Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth that make up a major part of the Jurassic Coast are just a few minutes drive away, Lyme Regis being just 8 miles distant and Sidmouth being the furthest at 15 miles, further from this the South West coast stretches to the East towards Chesil Beach, Weymouth and Poole, and in a Westerly direction towards Exmouth, Torbay, and the South Hams with the towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth. The city of Exeter is a very easy 25 minute drive away and The National Park of Dartmoor just 20 minutes further on. Taunton, the County Town of Somerset, is well placed just 15 miles away. The Location of Longbridge is perfect to explore the whole South West Peninsular, having the ideal location, with the peace and quite of a country location, with the benefits that that brings, the space to play and roam, problem free parking and the tranquility of sitting in your own fields. The area is very well served with a mix of village pubs, restaurants and cafe bars. The immediate area is mostly covered by traditional village pubs, most with gardens and being very child friendly, the closest of which is just 1 mile away in Stockland, The Kings Arms which is close enough to walk to, is one of our favourites, with outside eating and a choice or 2 restaurants, one of which, the Cotley Bar being a very relaxed enviroment perfect when eating with young children.

The Grounds.

Longbridge House is perfect for families and mature clients alike, it offers various areas with different moods. The Kitchen Garden perfect for early evening bbq`s and drinks, the Old Orchard, the ideal spot for a little peace and quite, sat amongst the fruit trees, perhaps watching the buzzards circling over head, a great place for a quiet Devon Cream Tea ! Next the River Side Meadow, about 1 acre in size, perfect for the whole family, children's play area, ample space to kick a ball around, a quiet sitting area on the river bank, small fire pits over looking the bridge, great for a very alfresco bbq, and the river bank, sit quietly, watch the fish jump, and look out for the electric blue flash, as the Kingfishers flash past. You are surrounded by farm land, often you will be watched across the river by the livestock, cows and sheep. If you wake early and venture out, you may see deer, rabbits, foxes, moles, badgers, the list goes on, what can you add ?

The House offers plenty of parking, space enough for 6 cars in an off the road area infront of the house, and a secure area behind the house enough for 2 vehicles.
